Dr. Katie Nylander, PsyD, LP is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of a variety of populations. She provides comprehensive psychological assessments for just about anything: diagnostic clarification, treatment guidance, autism spectrum disorder and other developmental concerns, emotional dysregulation, mood and anxiety disorders, personality, attentional concerns (ADHD), disruptive behavior, executive functioning, learning disorders, trauma, and intellectual abilities. Her primary goal is to answer referral questions through a non-threatening, collaborative, and fun way. Her evaluations are provided for individuals aged 6 and up.
Dr. Nylander also provides talk therapy for adolescents and young adults for the treatment of a wide range of presenting reasons, including posttraumatic stress, depression, life transitions, identity and self-exploration (including gender identity and sexual identity), disruptive behavior, mood/emotional dysregulation, anxiety, and strategies to compensate for executive functioning deficits. Dr. Nylander’s approach to therapy is less about symptoms and diagnoses and more about creating connections, identifying values, and finding acceptance all while improving life in ways that are important to you. She wants to help you build a sense of mastery, achievement, and confidence to reach the goals that you have set for yourself.
Dr. Nylander received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Minnesota State University – Moorhead and her doctorate in clinical psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology – Chicago, IL. Her pre-doctoral internship was conducted in Casper, Wyoming at a consortium of sites operated through a private practice. These experiences included psychological assessments of ages 6 – adult, disability evaluations, individual psychotherapy for children and adults, parent training, and group therapy. Dr. Nylander completed her residency at North Central Human Service Center in Minot, North Dakota where she primarily provided psychological assessments for a wide variety of populations. She has extensive experience working with youth of all ages in residential placements as well.
